What the hell is a Boshy anyway?

You know what this site has had enough of? Platformers that actively hate the the guts of the people playing them. Think back to I Want To Be The Guy, now we got I Want To The Boshy, something just as bizarre and frustrating. Come on, you know you want it, don't fight it.
"I don't really NEED it..."
IWTBTB has the same mechanics as IWTBTG (jumping, shooting, self destruct button (???)), with new stuff added, not the least of which is character selection and CUSTOM CHARACTER SUPPORT. It's all entirely cosmetic of course but still, CUSTOM CHARACTERS! You could make one of your cat or dog and no one could stop you!
Or you could go to darker, stranger places...
IWTBTB was created by Soulgryn back in 2010, and they also made a bunch of other games over the years and I'll probably get to them eventually. You can check out Soulgryn's website here, and download IWTBTB here

The dev team really DOES think of everything...

Today I got something special. One of the most well known of all roguelikes: Nethack! Originally released way back in 1987, and its roots can be traced back to the game “Rogue” which was released in 1980, Nethack is likely older than you, and its still being worked on today.
It will still be going after you die
The goal of Nethack is to obtain the Amulet of Yendor from the beyond the Mazes of Menace, and then get out alive. If the name of the dungeon doesn’t tell you this game means business than how about the fact that there are over fifty levels to that hell hole? Nethack doesn’t screw around.

Nethack knows who you are
At the start of every new game you choose your race and class with a number of selections to pick from. Classes have the typical ones you would probably expect, such as wizard, knight, and priest, who are basically what you imagine they are but Nethack also provides stranger choices, such as archeologist who start off with scientific tools, cavemen who start with high strength but ancient weaponry, or tourists who start off with a lot of money and a camera. Races who can choose from are the basic human, and dwarves, elves, gnomes and orcs. You also choose an alignment at the start, Lawful, Neutral, and Chaotic which has an effect on monsters and how hostile they are to you.
Nethack knows where you live
There is a lot to Nethack, from the randomized levels (with a few special exceptions), the cursed and blessed items, pets and Gods, you wont even see a fraction of what the game has in one go, odds are you wont see all that there is to Nethack period. What really makes Nethack is the high level of complexity and interaction in the game world. Your character can go blind, shape shift, lose limbs, then replace those lost limbs, wield dead monsters as weapons, make wishes, and starve if you don’t pay attention, and that’s really just the start.
Nethack will kill you in your sleep
Nethack uses ASCII graphics, though the option of tilesets is available if you're not into that.Whats even crazier is that Nethack can be configured so blind people can play it. I want you to think about that for a second.
...
Ok, now if any of that sounds appealing to you, you can snag Nethack here for whatever OS you use
and heres a guide for the game in general because damn this is complicated

I want to be the free video game

What I have for you today is more than a game. it’s a computer program meant to break you, to shatter your mind and turn you into a hollow being fueled only by rage and anguish, flinging your own crap everywhere like a chimpanzee with syphilis. I MAY be exaggerating however. That game is “I Wanna Be The Guy: The Movie: The Game”.
See that face? That face says "ADVENTURE!"
It’s a platforming game built from the ground up to be absurdity difficult while referencing old classic games such as Megaman and Castlevania. The “plot” of the game, such as it is, is that you, The Kid, are going to confront The Guy, so what you may become The Guy just like Grandfather The Guy before you. Of course it doesn’t really matter, the game is really about you running through this death trap gauntlet and fighting several bosses that are all taken from one (or more) game or another.
Screen one: can you see what will try to kill you in this picture? It only gets worse from here
There isn’t much to say beyond that. If you feel guilty about something and feel the need to suffer for it, or you’re a masochist, or maybe you just like hard platformers, then IWTBTG might just be what your looking for. There are a lot of indie platformers out there that were just slapped together, but IWTBTG isn’t one of them, this game had some serious effort put into it to make it better than some flash game. Between the one hit kills and the save points being few and far in-between you certainly wont beat it in one setting unless you’re a clairvoyant psychic (and even then I’d doubt it).
Try using that power for something useful, like winning the lottery
Between the actual game and all its nonsense, the multiple difficulties, and the boss rush mode, I’d say IWTBTG is worth the download. Its certainly one way to test your sanity, but I wouldn’t put it on the flash drive of games you’ll bring into your bomb shelter with you, because if you beat it then, who will you brag to? The mutants outside? They wont care.

Not pictured: a computer or other people to brag to
You can get IWTBTG over at http://kayin.pyoko.org/iwbtg/downloads.php So go play it.

Note the other game made in the style of lemmings, the creator isnt working on that anymore but it might be worth a look if you're curious.
